Acording to Tomshardware, Canonical is seeking personel to make a smartphone os. This might be an interesting move, but unless it can run software for one or more of the existing platforms, apps are going to be an issue. Microsoft, with all its might, already have this issue, apps and developers are to few. If how ever, a ubuntu phone os can run android apps like the playbook, they might have a fighting chanse. I don’t like direction the ubuntu desktop is heading, so I’m rather sceptical to a phone os, how ever, a phone os that works well with a linux desktop would, in my opinion, be a welcome contribution Written March 21st, 2012 by lars-erik

I’ve gotten a few e-mails lately, asking if NggManager is still in development, and the short answer is yes. Unfortunately, dev time has been sparse lately, but hopefully, there will be an update soon. I’m currently working on sorting out the bug reports I’ve gotten to remove any errors in the current feature-set. Once that that is done, I’ll upload a new release, non beta, and start working on some new features. Written March 6th, 2012 by lars-erik

When Spotify announced that they would let 3rd party developers create apps for Spotify, I figured it to be more of a gimic than any thing else, but after using if for a while, I’ve found them quite useful, but its not the best thing with the new Spotify. The improved radio combines what made last.fm great, with what makes Spotify great. Of course, it dos have access to my listening history, but it is RELY great at figuring out what music I like. In the old radio, all you could do was select a genre, in the new one you, much like last.fm, can select music you like, and get other music like it, which have given me a lot of new bands that would not normally have come across. If you have’t tried Spotify, I suggest you at least get a free account to test it out. It is well worth the 9$, or the about 18$ it costs here in Norway. |
